April.

This month Infinity was due on April 23. Last year she was almost a month overdue so I assumed that it would not come right away this time either. I had installed a camera with which I could keep an eye on her. That way, when the time came, I could see everything and if necessary go that way quickly.

I kept myself busy with Issy's foal Isamiya. A very sweet and affectionate foal. Putting on a halter and brushing her were certainly no problem. She was very independent and outside she played with the other foals and showed how fast she could run.

The weather was very nice and so the camera went to the barn regularly. That way I could capture all the fun actions!

In spring, the fields here are always completely filled with dandelions. As soon as the sun shines, the fields turn completely yellow! A plan that had been on the agenda for years, we decided to carry out now. With the horses on the field and make beautiful pictures. Issy is a true photomodel and showed her best side!

On April 27 it was time for Issy to make an ultrasound, to see if she would be pregnant. She was covered again with the same stallion as in previous years, namely Amerigo. And yes! This year it was hit again! Next year hopefully again a beautiful foal!

May.

Every morning before the horses went into the paddock, I took a look at Finn's udder, how it was doing. On May 6, she had mini drops hanging from it in the morning. She was still very quiet and I decided to let her out with the others and would look at the camera every hour to keep an eye on her.

At 13.45 I looked at the camera and saw that she was lying down. She never does this normally and so I jumped up, put on my shoes and ran to my car. Quickly I drove to the stable. In the meantime I got a call from someone at the campsite and she told me it had started.

When I arrived, the feet and a small piece of the nose were already out. Finn noticed me immediately, got up and came over to me. She whinnied and stood by the fence. She wanted to go inside. Quickly I opened the gate and let her into her box. She immediately lay back down. I saw that the amniotic bladder did not break down on its own and I opened it myself.

In the box I noticed that Finn had quite a bit of trouble with it, it was a very big foal, very long legs. So I decided to lend a hand. Then everything went very quickly and there was a colt!

Finn was obviously tired and stayed down. The foal was immediately very awake and already tried to move a little.

After a while Finn got up, licked her foal clean and pretty soon he was trying to be up. Not so easy with those long legs! Once he was standing he was still a bit shaky, but the search for the milk could begin. In the video you can see how he stands for the first time.

Also finding the udder was not so easy, he had to bend over quite a bit. I decided to leave the two alone for now and go home. After all, I could watch them over the camera.

I had a name in mind right away, but I wanted to give it some time to see if it really suited him. He finally got the name SEVIMLI. This means cute in Turkish and it suits him perfectly.

The next day the weather was very nice and I decided to let them out for a while. Finn was happy that after such a long time she could finally move around again. Because of the belly she had, she couldn't really move anymore, not at all to trot. Now she could finally run free again. And Sevimli followed his mom very well. After a short run I put them back inside, not too much at once!

The flowers in the field were as beautiful as ever and of course Impressive had to be photographed. Although Press is not very good at standing and quickly gets bored, I still got her super cool on the photo. I'm always so happy when I have such pictures of my horses. That just makes me even more proud of my beautiful mares!

Isamiya picked up everything well. She always let me put a halter on her and brush her afterwards. If I wanted to brush Issy she would always stand in between, she wants to go first. I decided to attach a halter rope so she could learn to stand still. She immediately understood what I meant, no problem at all, no fight. She let me lead her around the stall and she did the tying up as if it had never been otherwise.

When Sevimli was a few weeks old, I decided to put a halter on him too. This was also no problem. Sevimli is a very sweet foal and loves to cuddle. He also regularly sleeps with me on my lap. He likes it all.

For Finn it was also time to go to work again. She had not done anything for a couple of months and now that the foal was born, her belly was a lot thinner. She felt completely fit again and was eager to move. The first time I lunged her she was very wild. The next few times she was very concentrated and participated well. I could also start riding her again and what a cool horse she has become!

Below are the first pictures of Isamiya, then Sevimli and lastly Finn at work.

May 15th it was time to start the summer season. Impressive, together with another horse with the same age, went first into the mountains to enjoy the summer. They ended up in Ginzling, together with 3 cows and 2 calves. Truly paradise! A while later they were joined by 2 yearlings, a mare with a foal and another mare. I regularly went to see them after work. I can always really enjoy it, the peace, the view and of course the horses. I can sit there for hours. Of course the camera is always with me and I regularly come back with about 100 pictures. As I've written before, you can never have enough photos and I love to share them with you! A friend of mine also came by, she took some photos as well. This time they were not so photogenic, but you can't always be lucky.

Love, Fabiënne
