The autumn of 2020. The foal inspection and the auction are planned, the alm summer is coming to an end, but the horses can still enjoy the pasture down in the valley for a while. Autumn had beautiful colors this year, but the first snow was also already falling!
September.
The foal inspection was scheduled for September 3. For me partly a home game, since this inspection is held in the stable where Issy and her foal are. I picked up my colt, Sensation, in the morning with the trailer, he had a box for that day. That way I could stay in the stable and I could help with everything where necessary. At the foal inspection I always try don't to get my hopes up to high, of course you hope that your foals do well, but with less high expectations it can only turn out better. First I presented Intizara. We had practiced a lot and she did great! We were classified in class IIa + and were allowed to go to the auction at the end of September. Then it was Sensation's turn, he did not know the area and was therefore less at ease. Still he remained good, but as I had thought he was not picked as a stallion candidate. I brought im back to the campsite afterwards.
At the end of September it was time to take the horses down from the alm pasture. Alpine summer had lasted long enough. They could now stand on the pasture in the valley for a while. The mares that stayed in the stable during the summer also got a short break. They were allowed to go on the big pasture close to the stable!
September 26 was the day of the auction. I had been there a few times myself, had also showed a few foals when I worked at the Fohlenhof, but this was the first time that I presented my own foal. An auction, unlike in other years, not nearly as many visitors as usual. My turn was quite late, it was rainy weather. When it was finally our turn, we first had to go around the ring in walk. Intizara was not too impressed and kept walking quietly next to me. When we were allowed to lunge, she was also good at trotting around. I was concentrated on my horse and did not immediately realize what was happening. Until it was said that I could leave the ring again, there was no bidding!! I couldn't believe it and decided not to hand her over and take her home again. I didn't want to just leave her there and not know where she would end up. I took her to the campsite at the end of the day, where she could stand in a box with Sensation until I found a good home for her.
In the end, the sale of Intizara went much faster than expected. The day after the auction someone came to see her. He was enthusiastic and decided to buy her! I was very happy, she would stay nearby and I could always visit her! She stayed with me for another week before she was picked up.
October.
In October, the crisis surrounding the Corona intensified again. Several things were closed again and almost all countries were banned from travel. The campsite therefore decided to close early and so I had no work anymore. I spent most of my days with the horses and was able to ride a lot. Infinity has made huge strides in riding this summer, she likes to work and is a fast learner.
In Aschau, the outside riding options are not that great. I got a tip from someone in the neighborhood where we could ride nicely and so I decided to try that together with a friend. I took Finn and she took another Haflinger from the campsite. The road was quite steep, so we couldn't trot and canter everywhere. We hiked a lot, but the view was beautiful! The ride was quite an adventure. A large tree lay over our path, we decided to get off and guide our horses under it. Both were not surprised and enjoyed the ride. The ride took longer than we thought, it was a nice experience, but certainly not a ride for every week!
October 14, a wonderful day to take pictures! White mountain peaks, the sun is just over it, the sky is bright blue and the green fields are slightly frozen. This is the first image when I look out my window in the morning. I live at 4 high and therefore have a magnificent view of the Zillertal. Straight ahead I see Mayrhofen, with the Ahorn behind it. On the right is Penken, directly at the foot of the apartment complex is the stable where Issy and Impressive are and on the left I look at the village of Ramsau. Every morning I get up and realize what a beautiful place I live in and I am still happy with the choice I made at the time.
Issy and Impressive were still out in the field and I decided to visit them with the camera. Press was together with a other mare of the same age, two adult mares and 4 cows. Upon arrival, the two yearlings lay flat on the ground, enjoying the sun. For a moment I could sit and cuddle with her, until one of the other mares came over and she had to get up quickly. I took some pictures and after one last hug, Press was done with it and walked away, time to go.
Next stop, Issy and the other mares. Issy is standing on a large piece of grass in Hippach together with 8 other mares. Issy wasn't very interested in me today, the grass was much more important. In the meantime I was able to take some very nice pictures of the other mares. But unfortunately Issy kept ignoring me and so I didn't have a nice picture of my own horse. Bringing in the bag of tricks. There was an old piece of newspaper along the field, I picked it up and waved it. Every other horse looked up, except Issy... Then the horse sounds app. Four different sounds, every other horse was alert, except Issy… She didn't even move an ear. Finally, Issy heard something in the distance, which caught her attention. She stood with her head up for a whole minute, I quickly took a few pictures before diving her nose into the grass again. Lucky! There were some nice ones. So you see, nice plans don't always work!
At the end of October I said goodbye to Daisy. Actually, I would train her first before she went to her house in Germany. But because of the corona it was a bit different. The owner suddenly had a box free and wanted to bring her home earlier. Very unfortunate for me, but it was fine. I still receive pictures of how she is doing and that is of course always nice!
At the end of the month it was really time to bring the horses home. The grass was gone! Autumn was beautiful, with many colors, but suddenly changed at the end of the month and we got the first snow! A month with a little bit of everything!
